How to Mount Your Tracker

Always keep the following steps in mind when mounting your tracker with the adhesive foam tape. 

Step 1: Prepare the Surface

For a secure hold, the surface must be perfectly prepped:

Clean the Area: Use isopropyl alcohol or a grease-clearing wipe on both the tracker and the surface.
Dry Completely: Ensure it is 100% free of dirt, oil, or wax before applying the tape.

Step 2: Mind the Antenna Orientation

Positioning is crucial for strong GPS and cellular signals:

Safe Surfaces: Point the top towards open space, glass, plastic, or fiberglass.
Avoid Metal: Never tape the tracker directly flush against a flat metal plate, as it acts as a signal shield.

Step 3: Apply & Wait

Patience ensures maximum adhesive strength:

Firm Placement: Place the tracker with the foam tape attached firmly exactly where you wish.
Wait 24 Hours: Allow a full day for the adhesive to cure and reach its absolute maximum strength.

FAQ

Can you move a Copenhagen Tracker to a new vehicle? 

Yes. To move your tracker, carefully detach the device from its original location, peel off the used pad, clean both the casing and the new surface with alcohol, and apply a fresh Copenhagen Trackers replacement adhesive foam tape for a full-strength bond.

Does metal block the GPS tracker signal when taped down? 

Flat metal surfaces can block or dampen radio signals if placed directly over the antenna. While you can attach your tracker to a metal car frame or boot floor, always ensure the top/front face of the tracker points away from dense metal structures toward open air, glass, or plastic.

How do you remove ultra-strong adhesive foam tape without damaging the surface?

Because the industrial adhesive forms a high-tack bond, slice through the foam core using a piece of fishing line, dental floss, or a plastic trim tool. Once the tracker is detached, roll off the remaining rubbery adhesive with your thumb or clean the surface with an citrus-based adhesive remover.
